I discovered my whole 'I'm not comfortable with shoujo-ai' thing when I could barely sit through the last episode of Kannazuki no Miko when it became super heavy on the Himeko/Chikane syrup. I guess in the end I'm really (and I mean really) old fashioned. Men falling in love with women and vise versa, sex being saved for after marriage, etc.

... I don't think it's natural for a 21 year old to feel this old.

I suggest listening to StrikerS sound stage 3, track 15. Yuuno contacts Nanoha on the Asura (this is after Vivio is captured), and Yuuno gives her some words of support. She's so moved she starts crying. It's not translated, but you can still feel the emotion in their voices. Yuuno was always some one Nanoha could open up to because of their similar experiences.

In fact, there is one character I recognised lots of common traits with: Konata.
But then again, it might be because Lucky Star is one of the most realistic animes I've ever watched.
While Tsukasa and Miyuki are typical anime girls, Kagami is a typical real-life schoolgirl.
How to eat an ice-cream cones, or, more generally, a dish composed of two parts, seems unimportant, but it's the kind of question you really encounter in everyday life.
Back to Konata: her daily fight against homework (and how to copy it off a serious girl's, or to explain to the teacher why it was left undone), how she leave her books at school, how she takes a joke seriously ("Kagami-sama") to be the last one laughing, it's exactly me (at least, when I was still at school).

Then again, since I am attracted to females, seeing the main character attracted to a female feels normal to me -- even if that main character is a female too.

It's like big eyes or reading mangas from right to left: it takes a little while to get used to it, that's all...
(BTW, I like Card Captor Sakura for that: it's an innocent (as well as great) anime, but all types of couple (straight, gay, lesbian) are treated as perfectly normal, and even seeing Sakura and Shaoran compete for Yukito's love seems normal to everyone.)

I feel that the criterion "in love with" and the criterion "shoulder" are pretty much orthogonal.

Well, as I said before, after having read several fanfics from Satashi, the NanoFate couple felt completely obvious to me. They just go awfully well together. I just don't get the same vibes from a Nanoha/ferret couple.

Note that the word "boyfriend" is not correct. There's noone playing the "role of the male". It's a pretty much symmetrical relationship.

Well... not really. With NanoFate being Statshi's "official" couple, I'd really need a fanfic where Fate is not present, to enjoy the Nanoha/Yuuno couple. Counter-examples are "Peachy Keen" (see the end), and "The Night" (The story starts with Fate and Nahoha in the same bed.)

OTOH, I truly love the cute Shaoran/Sakura fanfics, like "Rainy Day" or "Sleepless Night".

Random note: I don't have an "official" couple. Nanoha/Fate is just easier to write than Yuunoha, so I can do more on it. I started out as a pure Yuunoha lover and was talked into Nanoha/Fate rather reluctantly. That's why my first ones are Yuunoha, then goes to Yuunoha with deep Nanoha/Fate friendship, and then a tentative Nanoha/Fate central. At first I despised the two girls together hehe

Death to Yuuno! Ah well, joking. As a fan, I have accepted no other pairing other than Fate and Nanoha. Well I don't mean in a sexual way, though I'm fine with it if they wished for that.. But rather, I find their friendship to be really... well beautiful. From how I see it, Yuuno just gets in the way. (He breaks up the "beautiful" image of mine) Nanoha's sexuality was not revealed anyways... so who knows. And good luck with the cosplay.

I don't understand why people don't realise that they can ship more than one couple. Nothing wrong with saying "Well, I like Nanoha/Fate, but Nanoha/Yuuno is fine too." You don't need to choose your perfered couple and then support it religiously.

ETA on ep 25, 26, and 17v2 (yes, I found a very annoying error in 17 that I just had to change) is some time this weekend. HAHAHA these episodes were done with my restyled subs. The credits for the group which were in the OP of the TV rips are also missing. If they were in the original sub file instead of hard coded into the TV rips I could have put them there. None-the-less Nanoha-DGz did most of the work on those sub files... I only restyled them, encoding was also done by myself. I need to QC the work first... I'll do it when I wake with a fresh pair of eyes.

I also ripped one of the specials from the DVD... "Memories of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's". I did not do the interview with the VA's.

At any rate before I release I need premission from the admins. I am a person with no life, this is why I learned to encode... so now I can encode, style subs and QC. Timing is a bit difficult for me but not impossible... translating is impossible as I only speak English. Anyway if anyone needs me to encode, style subs or QC anything please ask.
