Actually the most pathetic thing about this is the there isn't any :/ We don't hate yesy, and judging by the fact some of their members lurk and occasionally talk in our channel, they don't hate us (at least, I don't think they do). Hayate is a higher rank because she is a leader. If you remember hayate took control of that entire space port operation at the begining of the series. She's also in charge of the whole MD06. and as far as the magical ranking. the ranking is based not on actual magical abilities but on the test you take to become that rank. What if nanoha and fate simply havent takin the test to raise to the next rank?

As far as this whole limiter thing goes, who really cares. just sit back and enjoy the show or just stop watching it.

i don't think Hayate broke the device because she is SS Rank. If the ranking goes up to SSS they should have device able to support that.. Also there must be someone somewhere who is or have be ranked SSS

Well, the talk there (A's Soundstage 03,track 19)
goes like this: some maintenance guys ask Hayate to
come and test two new devices they prepared for her.
Seems that Hayate has troubles with control at high
output (see strikers ep2 ;) and already broken 6 devices.
Also she's able to use both midchildian and velka-type magic
and that supposedly requires more complex device.

As for leadership, i don't sure if that's exactly the case.
At least it seems that Nanoha is leader among the trio and
its really funny how she goes instructor mode on them in the
same soundstage. So Hayate's army rank more likely has
something to do with her information processing abilities
or the like (seeing how in spaceport operation she had 4x more
info screens than Nakajima and Rein used together ;).

Now I haven't read all the posts, so I'm sorry if I repeat something. I agree with a previous statement that Hayate went to a lower mage rank b/c she's in a command position, but there is also one other thing. She's got so much bloody power on her own, that even while reduced, she still is very impressive. Also, she does have Rein to fuse with, thus improving her skills. Then there are her knights, which will almost definitely drop anything in order to save her. As or Nanoha and Fate, the power limitation would have the added benefit of forcing them to fight smarter, since they have less power to force behind their attacks.

Also, Nanoha mentioned that it would be difficult to get permission to remove the limiters, I imagine that most circumstances where any of them would need to remove them would probably lead to nothing worse than a minor reprimand if any of them did so without proper clearance.

Hayate probably took a greater limiter to allow Nanoha, Fate, Signum, and Vita to maintain a high enough magical power to fight effectively; remember, they're frontline, and she's the commander in the back.

If she's in the field, the knights will allready be there.

They're some of the best the TSAB has, I'm pretty sure they allready fight pretty smart. The limiters dont seem to be effecting them that much in episode 5 >_>

Seems about right. Hayate, as the commanding officer, probably won't engage in battles as often as Fate/Nanoha, so doesn't require as high a power level.

So she broke the device because she use a complex type of magic and she cant control it properly.
Not because she is SS rank.
I don't deny the fack she is SS it's just, i doubt it's the reason why she broke the device

Well, it probably takes some power to burn out a device.
At least, Nanoha didn't have that kind of problems and
I don't think that RH is that unique.

The limits could also be in place to prevent lets say other members of different units from rebelling against one another which could result from jealousy.

I finally got a chance to read them, so if anyone else is wondering what I was wondering since the question was only partially answered, all of the manga chapters on the bookofdarkness.com site are side-stories that take place in and around the episodes of the series.

Nanoha A's 0-5: Before and during Nanoha A's
Nanoha A's 6-7: Right after Nanoha A's, but before the time jump.
Nanoha StrikerS: Right after the time jump at the end of Nanoha A's and before the 4 year jump to StrikerS

Actually, the StrikerS manga continues after chapter 3. The fourth chapter is set (if i remember correctly) just a month before the start of the anime and introduces Subaru, Tiana and the others. I have seen untranslated chapter up to the sixth floating around, and someone at 4chan has translated chapter 4.

Mmm, sorry i have written the wrong times: 4-6 are set a year after 1-3, and 7 just before the anime. The mission carried on chapter 1-3 finishes at the end of april year 71, just when subaru arrives at the airport when the accident portraied in the anime occours. 4-6 starts with Subaru and Tiana encounter : june, year 72. Dont know exact date for 7, but it should a month before april 75.

IIRC Arf usually helps Yuuno around in the library, or hangs around with Lindy.

She now sports a smaller human form "since it drains the least mana from Fate". Also, she isn't with Fate 'cause "Even though I'm Fate's guardian beast Fate is plenty strong and she's not alone either."

Dark Az is sort of right, but that was 4 years ago. Sound Stage M tells us what happened to Arf.

Arf is no longer with Fate as she doesn't need to protect her, Fate can look after herself now. Instead, she's protecting a home for her to return to. She's also protecting her extended family, Amy's children.

Fate also states in Sound Stage M that we probably wont see her (in division 6 that is), but I'd say that all the characters that seem to be written out will get a cameo appearance sometime in the series.

I'm not really sure what the big deal with the 'official' names is. I'm of the humble opinion they sound rather silly for the most part, and nothing like what my ears are hearing, so I'd rather have nice sounding names than accurate ones - which is in essence what the Japanese audience get.

i think that the name is not much of a problem. as long as we understand the storyline is enough. who would wan to c an anime if the name is good but with lousy storyline or subbing?? up till now, of all the fansubber, nanoha-dgz is the best fansubbing for now, that's wad i think ^_^ keep up the good work

Some of the official names we will be keeping are Schach and Mach Calibure (forgive my spelling). Japs have a habit of pronouncing ch as ha. It's rather annoying. But you probably realized that with episode 4 anyways.

Chances are, we'll do another check of the script when the dvd versions get released. 4chan likes to make some fansub drama for us and compares us with yesy. Most the time they're just different wordings, but sometimes they can be legit errors that we made. They're too few and minor for us to make a version 2 though. In anycase, the script should be better as well as the video quality.

Anyways, there was another innuendo line in this week... I'm surprised 4chan and it's /a/ssholes haven't picked it up yet.

They're too busy flaming or comparing Subaru to GaoGaiGar (though I have to admit that comparison came to my mind as well when I watched episode 5 in raw format).
