first, wow, now the spoilers

On Fate Riot Zamber was kick ass, also note that as nanoha powers up she gets more armoured, fate becomes less

On Lightning Impressive, most impressive, they came out to play and did so, and looks like the befriending might work again

On the Knights DRILL, and signum looks damn sexy with her hair down

On Nanoha Getting major "White Devil" vibe from her new fin funnels, also good god and she's lower ranked than hayate.... glad she's a good guy

Numbers #4 got PWNED AT LONG BLOODY LAST, that was a great scene something along the lines of "no human can hit a target at this distance" then BAMN, good lord that was a good

again wow good stuff, raws now watched, awaiting subs and 26 raw.

-Gabe, who hardly understands japanese but when you watch a show for 20+ episodes to pick up on stuff....

2 Name: firemage : 2007-09-17 23:33 ID:ikcLCSHM [Del]

also

on Vivio damn it they re-lolified her, at least we'll know she'll be a looker some day

indeed it was amazing. one thing i was wondering though was did nanoha say "buster" or "duster" on that awesome scene? i kept replaying it and am leaning towards duster.

I hope there'll be a 4th series set some 15 years later. Then I'd hit it with a force greater than OVER 9000 Starlight Breakers!!

given that after the relolied Hayate she still ended up stacked i'm guessing that the same will be true for Vivio

Why aren't the first two seasons being hosted anymore? (10)

1 Name: Katzbalger : 2007-09-16 08:10 ID:UmEK6onj [Del]

In case you haven't heard the news, season 1 and 2 of Nanoha has been licensed in the US. Because the yanks don't believe that there are any other countries in the world with internet capability (the authorities over there at least...), both season 1 and 2 has been taken down from the board. People who don't live in America get to bathe in the bullshit of America dictating how the world turns, once again.

This has been posted because I've noticed several people are unaware of the situation.

Ijou~

2 Name: STi : 2007-09-16 09:41 ID:XYexzM5K [Del]

It's been licensed for a while now. I thought you guys didn't care about licenses. I hoped you didn't, anyway...

Well, I feel the same as you. I'm glad I don't live in America! My country is not at all strict with stuff that concerns anime. Heck, a local TV network even used a fansubbed episode of Naruto and aired it on national TV, complete with subtitles and local dubbing!
Just out of curiosity, are the staff members of DGz not Americans?

After that they ask: Why is the terrorist after us ??
Seem like they didn't realize they are annoying the entire world

4 Name: firemage : 2007-09-16 11:41 ID:Tl1J4M+L [Del]

Legally it's a copyright violation even if there isn't someone outside of Japan who holds the licenses, it is just seen as too expensive to go after people on the other side of major oceans.
The reason most English lang subbers stop after licensing, is because some American companies are willing to sue, and to honestly support the R1 release in some cases, but such differs from group to group

Based on industrial power, China makes the world turn these days. The US just acts like we're still at the top, but if we shaped up our act a bit and stopped being a certain nation's attack dog and rebuild our domestic production, we could return to our peak, and maybe move beyond it.

-Gabe, bitter son of a Detroit autoworker (fricken outsourcing)

5 Name: Coldlight-san : 2007-09-16 13:39 ID:pHzD8GyJ [Del]

If you are willing to foot the bill of any court and legal fees I may have as a result of hosting copywritten material and to support my livelihood when I lose my job due to possible criminal charges.... you get the picture.
Stop complaining. Oh, and America is NOT the only country with stiff copyright laws. Japan is pretty harsh itself.
Anyway, due to our willingness to cooperate with the anime industry over here, we have a sort of live-and-let-live relationship going on between subbers and companies.
Does this mean I like the anime industry over here? Not really. They do a crappy job of encoding and dubbing and overcharge for it.
But your complaining only sounds like some non-American complaining about how we American subbers aren't providing you with FREE entertainment. Start your own non-American group, have a ball, and host them yourself.

6 Name: Varion : 2007-09-16 19:40 ID:1ziIbyJD [Del]

Katz stop confusing everyone with lies.

Both the first season and A's still ARE up on the tracker. Not the scarywater one, the other one. And for the record JJS is the only american amongst our staff (no idea where our new translator is from).

7 Name: Katzbalger : 2007-09-17 00:55 ID:UmEK6onj [Del]

>>6
My bad var, I was talking about the fact that the downloads section at the top of this page no longer has the first two seasons. I also notice it doesn't have the 3rd season eps for some reason, but the first two seasons aren't even mentioned anymore.

>>5
Oh for crying out loud, I know all about the copyright law bullshit, hell I did a class on it. And to make a point, copyright's worst in Australia because of some shitty loophole that claims that we technically cannot legally own an ipod, or any other MP3 player, which includes mobile phones.
And to back up what Var said, JJS is the only American in this group that we know of.

8 Name: Anonymous : 2007-09-17 06:50 ID:0wGnLnnQ [Del]

There ARE some fan sites that still have MGLN & A's for (Direct) downloading, but you'll have to do some detective work (and some serious Googling) to find 'em. I've heard that some sites use the excuse (and potential loophole) that 'They're not licensed in the UK, France, Germany... [insert country of your choice here] yet'.

9 Name: DrmChsr0 : 2007-09-18 12:40 ID:tM8jnGpx [Del]

Actually in Japan, it takes too long to process a copyright lawsuit because the courts have to gather the evidence themselves (for civil cases I gather), unlike most countries.

Also the recording and dissemination of broadcast episodes isn't a crime there. So from a Japanese point of view, they are not doing any wrong.

The Berne Convention says otherwise, but who actually knows the Convention exists?

10 Name: Quarn : 2007-09-18 13:00 ID:nOkZ7QQh [Del]

The copyright doesn't exist for the artist, it exist for the company that produce him since the artist in the first place want to be read, seen, listened... and the company want money.
If a artist do stuff just for money then it's not a true artist.
That doesn't mean a artist can't accept money !

My point of view !

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS - 09 (31)

It's been quiet 'round these parts for an awful long time. Let's mix things up a bit!

Many thanks to our new translator who is juggling this project along with another project and class work. Welcome aboard! In related news, I would like to recruit a translation checker to go over eps 1-8 for errors (there are some obvious and maybe not so obvious errors scattered about) so we can consider doing DVD releases.

And before someone asks, I snagged the clean OP off the DVD so that's why there is a significant quality difference between the OP and the rest of the episode. In the future I'll turn the OP quality down a bit but the raws are all so bad that you probably won't notice it anyway.

Anyway, for the one or maybe two people who haven't seen it yet, here's ep 9. Per usual there will be an XviD version within the next couple days for the quarter of a single person who wants it...

You can easily copy the subtitle tracks from the TV version to the DVD raws yourself.

24 Name: ChanLokHang : 2007-09-09 21:30 ID:TnUs3NEt [Del]

It is what I did. though I have yet to encode episodes 4 to 6. I've done 1 to 3 though.

25 Name: STi : 2007-09-09 22:28 ID:8YJ0vaBX [Del]

With all this talk about DVD releases, I have a question... Since you all at DGz like multiple subtitle tracks so much, would you put in a track with the official names used? I know you guys don't prefer to use them but there are some people who like them.
I really enjoy your releases. Yesy's is ok, but their work is kind of over-translated and it causes a lot of errors in the translation.
Anyway, do it or not, I would still get your releases. Just a small request...

I would believe it to be those on the site. I mean, they, mostly, match the naming scheme of naming the characters after cars.

It's not like it takes that long to switch a script intended for TV raws to DVD ones, and if we have a script lying around a month before the DVD we may as well do something with it, right?

>>25
The only one we've gone against the car naming scheme is Tia which is, quite frankly, just because calling her Tea makes me and everyone else cringe and ours is close enough (and closer to how it's actually pronounced). Caro obviously isn't a car and to be quite honest I don't care either way on that one (I use them interchangeably), our original translator just really really liked Kyaro and threatened to leave if we used Caro (and then left anyway, hah!)

Those are the only two right? Unless you're advocating the official site's 'Zafila' anyway. Or suggesting we change Elio's name to Aerio. I'll leave it to JJS to reply but I don't see the point of another sub track just for Caro, as I'm pretty sure Teana makes the rest of the staff cringe as much as me.

I'm with Varion... I don't see the point in having a completely new track just for one or two name changes. The names we're using for Kyaro and Tiana ARE official though. They're the official Japanese names, converted directly from the katakana.

But honestly, if you don't like the name's we're using, just extract the subs and change them to what you want, them put it back together again.

Device Design (5)

1 Name: firemage : 2007-09-12 20:21 ID:Nv9VtDGh [Del]

Okay now one of the major traits in Nanoha is the engrish/german talkin' devices.
What type of device would you design for yourself?

-G

2 Name: Gullwhacker : 2007-09-12 20:55 ID:SEYTYz8G [Del]

For myself? Hm. At present, I'm leaning towards a long-hafted double-headed battleaxe. Or would that be a poleaxe? Either way, let the curved blades meet at the focusing sphere or whatever that part is called, and fire beams as needed from the end.

Something like that, at least. Haven't thought of a name yet..

3 Name: DmonHiro : 2007-09-12 21:06 ID:Vatr7gWj [Del]

Twin long-swords that fuse into a claymore looking sword. While in claymore form, the top half could spilt so I can use it as a beam cannon. Think I'd call it Cerberus

4 Name: JonB : 2007-09-12 21:23 ID:3K8S0m1z [Del]

I'm too much of a KH fanboi to give up on a Keyblade.

Hrm... I wonder what sort of keychain an Intelligent Device would make....

5 Name: ChanLokHang : 2007-09-12 23:17 ID:sODWFZFp [Del]

I prefer having the design of Subaru's Mach Caliber and Revolver Knuckle... I also like the voice used for Mach Caliber. Instead of making a new device for myself, I'll steal Subaru's. I am no good with ranged attacks, and my shooting skills are not so good as well. Many of my traits kinda match Subaru, except the part of her unique birth into the world.
