What? A release without an announcement post? This is madness!

So after several sleepless nights (especially last night) #Nanoha and DGz are proud to present our first full episode release! You'll be getting this epic show in two formats: a 230mb XviD/MP3 for those of you who like to play such things (Katz wanted one for his standalone player) as well as a 170mb H264 version with softsubs of hopefully similar video quality. The XviD is out already (link to torrent below) and the H264 will be out sometime this afternoon assuming nothing catostrophic happens.

So anyway, enjoy our release and look forward to many more!

If a better RAW version will appear, will you use it? The quallity of the current RAW is not that great.

I would think they will, but thats only if a better version comes out.

It's still light years better than the other group's version that came out first.

If something so beautiful it makes me want to cry comes out, there might be an extra HQ H264 release. I've heard that it won't air on a decent channel until tomorrow and we didn't want to put off the release that long. Once all of the channels have aired it for the first time (with the exception of one that doesn't air ep 1 until the 14th), we'll decide which raw we need to wait for though it could take a week or two to get fully organized.

Is it just me or are Chrono (& Ami), as well as Yunno and Arf AWOL in the OP?

I know a lot of folks may start to complain about this so I should point out that Tia's name is actually spelled Teana or Tea. That is according to the Japanese site... I myself do not mind but a lot of people do. Thanks for the great release though! I look forward to the following releases.

When you look at her name in the OP it looks more like Tiana
The other version is to low quality to really read it (at least with my 4 year old glasses that is.)

Since Subaru leaves off the "na" sometimes when she's speaking to her, we decided we're going to go with Tiana/Tia since Tea looks like something you'd drink. We're mixing romanizations from several sources to put together a name list that we like most/makes the most sense to us and we'll be sticking to that list for the whole season.

In other news, I went and blabbed about a possible H264 release timeframe and, wouldn't you know it, it's been delayed until I can pump out something visually acceptable. Continue enjoying the XviD for now and when I have something worthy I'll post about it.

Is anyone else having issues with the torrent? I can't connect to the tracker at all with the BitTorrent client.

I dont see whats rong with there ranks In both the [yesy] and [Nanoha-DGz] subs both clearly state that there rank C and are takeing a test for rank B.

Also like the Raiseing/Rageing Heart thing did anyone think it was a choice made by [Nanoha-DGz]to name it Link Road? It sounds like Link Road to me.

As for [yesy] useing the Car name its a choice by them as fansubers and as such does it really matter. If you dont like [Nanoha-DGz] work then no one is makeing you watch it, I know I like and I will continue to downlaod and seed [Nanoha-DGz] releases.

Taking my excellent hearing into account Subaru does indeed say "Wing Road"... not "Link Road". I do feel that the subs made by [Nanoha-DGz] are better then [yesy].

Don't forget about the Japanese R/L issue it sounds a bit to me like "rink" road, which is where they might be getting the "W" sound from.

A couple minor edits were made to the script for the h264 release including Hayate's rank and a line changed because our TL wasn't wearing his headphones >_> "Link Road" will not be changed because, honestly, it isn't that big a deal. LOL Engrish :/ The argument on that issue is closed because drama is just going to get people pissed off at each other and that's not what we're after. If you can understand the engrish spoken, just don't look at the bottom of the screen and pretend it wasn't subtitled at all.

h264 time! A good handful of edits have been made which is why it took so long. I think we've worked out most of the new-group bugs so things will probably be smoother from here on out!

Are you planning on a simultanious release of XviD and h.264 or a delay between them or switching to h.264 completely?

I prefer h.264 softsubs but would hate to have to wait for my weekly dose of Nanoha goodness, if they were delayed

There were two HD raws I saw. Both were fugly upscales of the same SD airing so that'll continue to be on hold.

I don't remember making a big deal out of it when that shitstorm came up after the Season 1 DVD releases started. I simply stated that it sounded better to me and it was convenient to have an official source to back it up. Here we have no official source but it still sounds right to us.

We're planning on continuing the dual release method because XviD is extremely convenient for standalone players. If the earlier raws stop looking like trash, the h264 might come out a little sooner after the XviD but we'll have to wait and see. Maybe this week the cappers will be a bit better prepared to capture the full awesomeness that is StrikerS.

Just watched the h264 release and I'd like to say thanks for a good release. On the engrish translation... I think you're wrong about Link Road. But both Wing and Link works and it's not the end of the world ^^. You have your reasons for Tiana as well :). And if it really gets bad we can always fix it (thanks for the superior choice of using softsubs ^^).

Just a warning, I torrented the Divx version to a default hard drive directory and after watching it when i closed the video all non-video and folders were deleted, it deleted all my pictures and documents, tried adding a picture and running it to confirm again and it did so again

also tried with other videos using the same video player and no problems, anyone else get this?

To the best of my 10 years of computer knolage, i have never heard of anything like that happening. If you are running windows then there is a Recycle Bin for a reason if not then if you have a 2ed HDD try some file recovery software to restore the files. Just dont try to install the program and restor the files on the same drive.

Apparently the boxes appearing under Win2k is a recognition issue with OS.

Both. The XviD will usually come out first with the h264 following anywhere between the same day and couple days later depending on raw quality. The h264 should be considered the most "official" of our releases because it gets the most time for editing as well as the benefit of listening to the internet complain about something wrong with the XviD. The count of changes between the two formats should be dramatically smaller starting with episode 2 so if you can't watch/don't want the h264, don't feel like you're missing anything.

There are about 6 font files bundled in with the mkv. Grab mkvtoolnix and mkvextractgui to rip them out.

The fonts used in the softsub aren't actually the ones used for kanji. Windows XP substitutes PMincho or PGothic (whichever one I don't remember) automatically so I guess you could try and use those files (not included in the mkv because they're ~10mb each). Have you seen LuPerry's Sumomo mo Momo mo softsubs and do they work? I'll try naming a specific font file like he does for ep2 and we'll see if that works any better.

On a related note: OP/ED subs will be turned off by default in the softsub of episodes 2 and forward. If you really want them covering up the epic animation you can select Track 2 of the subtitles. In either case, the dialogue will remain the same and the XviD version will still have them as well.

Finally, ep 2 is nearly finished. The usual rule of "don't get your hopes up" still applies but I'm optimistic about getting it out before the weekend.

Nanoha doesn't air on real HD/Hi-Vision. Only fugly uspcales are available. Sorry.

From what I hear, no. If we downscale the upsaceled "HD" eps, it'll probably look just like the quality that we're pumping out now. As for us doing dvd rips... I dunno. Up to JJS really. I'd love it though.

Yeah, the upscales really aren't that nice looking. If they looked like, say, the 1024x576 Air bluray rips (which are just studio upscales of the less than stellar DVDs - but they look pretty nice, especially the backgrounds) then maybe something could be done with them... but man, did you see any screenshots of that 1.1gb 1920x1080 upscale? xD

Same with the DVD subs. I'll definitely be buying the DVDs (got money to burn, bought the last 2 seasons...) so JJS won't have any shortage of sources, and he could just get the DVDISOs off Share to use anyway, but again it comes down to how busy he is at the time. If we can make him do them we will though.
