The image in itself definitely isn't yuri, but some people will think "yuri" as soon as they see Fate and Nanoha in the same episode...

Seeing Fate's love for Nanoha (which Nanoha doesn't even notice) in the 4-komas make for a good laugh, but I never took that idea seriously.

IMHO, the relation between Fate and Nanoha is pretty much symmetrical (any of the two would do anything to help the other in case of need), but since Fate is awfully shy (even worse than 10 years ago, I think), she looks submissive compared to the cheerful and confident Nanoha.
Besides, either Nanoha still has health problems, or her accident 8 years ago traumatized Fate, but the latter seems very anxious about the former's health and security.

And I think Fate's gratitude for having been saved is more active (helping children in need, like Caro) than passive (idolizing Nanoha).

Well yeah ive only read 1 of the yuunohas and that was "On the Town" that one really cool actually so you should give it a shot. her latest one "SNL, a digital short" Nearly killed me making me laugh so hard. I cant wait till Satashi-sama updates "6th Division: Reminisce". HEY! ok a bit of shameless advertising for my favorite Nanoha fic now. Everyone needs to check out "Path of Vengeance" and its sequel "Academy Blues" Theres no fate/nanoha though so if thats the only thing your interested in then too bad. Its actually more focused on Hayate. AB has some AWESOME original characters and all as well ^^. PoV is finished with a total of 10 chapters and AB is still going on and is atm up to 21 chapters ^^. i give both of them a 20 out of 10 (if thats even possible). Ok shameless advertising over.

Maybe Path of Vengeance and Academy Blues are good, but personally I don’t like that kind of serious plot for a fanfic from this series, I prefer something romantic, and I can find it on Satashi’s fanfics.
I don’t hate Yuuno, but I don’t like the idea of him and Nanoha as a couple, Fate is way cuter than him =)

When I watch an anime, I want to watch. I want to see characters interact or a story unfold under my eyes.

When I start a game, I want to play. If the game is about watching something, well, an anime (or another show) would do better.

In fact, a mix of action (gaming) and inactivity (just watching something) doesn't appeal to me.
Farcry is a great game in that aspect (well, OK, in many other aspects as well): Doyle explains things to you while you play; you don't have to wait until he has finished to start playing.
(Well, OK, there are cutscenes, but you can skip them since they're pretty useless.)

meh...im not that big a fan of FPS games lol, at least i don't have the seething raw hatred i have for them like i do for fighting games (Tekken and the like). Im no good at those shooting games :P. I liked FEAR a lot though. Medal of honor is the only one I really got any good at actually played it for a good 2 years online. BAR was my best weapon since i used it more like a rifle than an actual MG.

And before anyone gets the wrong idea a good story just means that the plot interests me not so much that i need a game with a lot of text and reading.

BTW i do have one exception to my rule and that is Rhythm Simulation games like DJmax, Popn' Music, O2jam, Beatmania, etc etc. ^_^

I just read Academy Blues. Definitely a good novel (even though it lack an epilogue). I wouldn't call it a fanfic: while, technically, some characters are taken from Lyrical Nanoha, the "feeling" I got from it is completely different from the series.
The first half is more like Harry Potter, and the second half resemble "His Dark Materials" (P. Pullman).
[Note: I suppose everyone knows Harry Potter; however, if you haven't read His Dark Materials, and liked Academy Blues, read it.]

Satashi, OTOH, depict the characters as they are in the TV series, with the same warm feelings. So much that if you told me she's the original author of Lyrical Nanoha, I wouldn't be overly surprised.

Like I said (or tried to say) before, I find it difficult to be emotionnally involved in that story.
Actually, in the "new" characters, the one I prefer is Noriko's father, even if we don't see him much. Well, I suppose that doesn't answer your question, since he's not a student.

I definitely don't like Yussef. Cidela seems like a nice girl, but she's trying so hard not to catch attention that she kinda didn't caught mine.
That leaves us with Noriko and Laura for the main characters. It took me a fair few chapters to come to like Noriko, and even more (~15 chapters) to like Laura. But now, I don't have a definite preference between them. In fact, I like seeing them together, with Noriko's quiet (but strong) nature counterbalancing Laura's over-the-top behaviour.

It's a good story, and I did enjoy reading it; I may even read it again some time. But it's purely intellectual; It's not very different from reading a well-written technical essay.

When I read "6th Division: Rebirth", OTOH, I can feel the kawaii-ness of the slightest slice of life; I can feel Tia's troubled feelings, or Fate's joy/relief/embarrassment when she finds the huge stuffed bear and the card from Nanoha.

The way Laura handles Takashi, who's frightening everyone, and calls him "Ta-chan", reminds me of Kashe (the main character in Monster Collection) when she summons a terrifying being, controls it, and call it pet names like "Miasmy" or "Blacky".

Satashi's work is good in short bursts, but it isn't put together as well. Things jump around a fair amount, such as the month long leap in Rebirth and the two day jump in Reminisce. While some jumping is expected, its rather unfortunate given that these are all highly emotional times in the storyline. Given that Satashi's writing seems to be best at said emotional periods, it seems a bit like a major opportunity is being missed. I am personally getting a little sick of Nanoha and Fate constantly talking about their intimate relations, and sometimes the emotional development seems a little forced and out of character. The action sequences also are rather poor, and it seems like the author decided to ignore one of his episode previews.

Academy Blues, while using a few more archetypes, manages to be more consistent in it's writing. Each chapter manages to be rather fulfilling, and even the cliffhanger endings don't make you terribly angry. The author knows what they're good at, and is (thankfully) not tossing in random romances like Satashi might've just done. It also seems to feature a fairly well developed magic system that manages to be strong enough to be worthy of a main character, but still features enough flaws that it doesn't become terribly overpowered.
