So yeah, we're not making any progress because Mr. Translator has real life obligations. Therefore I am putting up this very subtle ad:

WE NEED A TEMPORARY/PERMANENT TRANSLATOR WITH NO LIFE

Varion tells me he's done roughly 60% of ep9 but the technical mumbo-jumbo and most of Hayate's damn accented dialogue is still missing.

I really want to see up through 14 so the sooner we can get some help the less rage I will have built up :) We can turn out an episode typically within 3 days of a script placed into our hands so if anyone has the free time, please volunteer. Please, think of the kittens!

Wah!
I wish I could speak moonspeak ;;

I can check the scripts for grammars if you want, but I'm pretty sure you guys have enough of those, right?

3 Name: firemage : 2007-07-07 00:08 ID:VlK6qfUD [Del]

I have enough issues with english and the german i need to learn to finish my bloody degree (it's been 5 bloody years since i last took german and now i have to pass a test to get out of the class and take something that will honestly help me)

-Gabe, who is just trying to bump but still provide content

Your english is good enough for me, and as the editor, let me tell you, Kei's can get pretty bad. If can t/l jap, then do a bit from the ep 9 as best you can and if i, var, rad or JJS can work with it, that's good enough for us.

5 Name: firemage : 2007-07-07 10:37 ID:VlK6qfUD [Del]

Forgot the comma, after "english". I'm a native english speaker, who needs to learn german to finish his degree.

Hard to do when you don't have access to the scripts, translating something off the TV (or perhaps off a video program on the PC) isn't easy ya know ;)

I'd love to help, but its been a good two-four years now since I last translated 'anything' in the form of japanese to english. So long now I have to rely mostly on a jap dictionary to translate stuff.. (which stinks)

I hope your new translator, whomever it might be, does a good job though ;)

Yeah, with the huge number of homonyms there are in Japanese, understanding what's being said is indeed a pain.

8 Name: Kalitan : 2007-07-07 14:43 ID:RI/H45Ms [Del]

>>7 its not really that much of an issue, considering I attend a japanese martial arts school and all our classes are SPOKEN in Japanese, so in a way, I still know basic japanese, but nothing along the lines of advanced Kanji/Hiragana (sp)

How much did you understand of the raw StrikerS episodes?

10 Name: Katzbalger : 2007-07-08 01:28 ID:v/LNzQn4 [Del]

>>8
The translator doesn't have to worry about any written signs, seeing as that's my job. Translating signs and military stuff is my job, and the reason why I'm listed as one of the translators.

11 Name: JJS«admin» : 2007-07-09 08:20 ID:VzzrlIAU [Del]

Bump because it nearly fell off the front page ;)

JJS, would you mind if I gave you a direct translation from Korean to English to use as a reference?

I have most of the Korean translations on my computer, and the grammar of Korean and Japanese are just about the same.

The other reason why I'm passing on being a translator is because JJS would not like how I do things, I've always gone by what the CHARACTER says Engrish wise, not some website or script. So I would be translating RAGING heart AS Raging Heart since its what the two voice actors are saying in Engrish.

Thats why I'm passing ;)

>>15
Dont worry. Kie did that too. He managed to get into the habit of typing RH instead though. Mind you, like the Arthra they ARE saying Raising Heart now...

If you put in anything that doesn't match what we've been using so far, it's the editor's job to fix it up.

Consistency dictates that we don't change the spelling of things we've been using so far but I'm not about to jump down anyone's throat for having a different opinion. We're all pretty relaxed when it comes to working on this stuff :)

Hmm... the reason why I'm saying that [Nanoha-DGz] should release the DVD UHQ versions of it is because we probably won't be able to keep up with [yesy] for the time being, and I'm sure everyone would like to have their UHQ versions of MSLNS, anyways.

Heck, and I doubt we'd have any leechers if we sub with the quality we have right now since [yesy]'s almost finished with MGLNS 14.

Steal from Yesy.... or not. insert angry Yesy fansub drama

27 Name: starlightSkyS!!wBsiaAFm : 2007-07-22 15:55 ID:OfKJDYNT [Del]

Well, didn't this group steal from The Triad's version?

28 Name: Fabien : 2007-07-22 16:39 ID:4et+e919 [Del]

>>27
I don't think the word "steal" is the best choice here, but yes, DGz did release a HQ version of the first two seasons, with Triad's subtitles (edited a bit).
And yes, it would be a good idea to release a DVD-rip version of yesy's fansubs... but only if yesy don't do that themselves.

29 Name: starlightSkyS!!wBsiaAFm : 2007-07-23 10:34 ID:OfKJDYNT [Del]

>>28
Then rip them before [yesy] does it, because we'll get nowhere with this hiatus going on :D

30 Name: Fabien : 2007-07-23 16:08 ID:Lk0RpdOF [Del]

>>29
Which hiatus are you taking about?
The first DVD will be released in a couple of days.
You'll have to wait at least a few days before they're ripped and subbed.

Basically it means its been over a month since the last release and not having heard from any TL's it could be another month or six of no releases.

We really want to finish this project but at the same time don't want people to get their hopes up for something that may not arrive any time in the near future. This is also why there haven't been any DVD releases from us as it would be yet another project to stall at ep 8. Once I have some confidence we'll actually finish, DVD episodes will rain from the heavens.

40 Name: Kuro-puppy : 2007-08-01 12:04 ID:4KFwEbVM [Del]

Glad to hear that. It will probably take a very long time for the releases to come but i prefer you guys over Yesy subs so i'll wait (and those DVD eps would be great for my site XD).

I hope you guys find a translator soon!

Ill gladly wait for the DVD releases, no matter how long they take :)

I do have a life, but I have some time to spare (and few friends of mine are giving me pleas of desperation), so I'm about to volunteer myself on a temporary basis... but would it be possible to contact any of the staff/admins via e-mail or something a bit more private?

You can... uhh, email Katz about it.
But... after I put out my email address here, it gets spammed about 10 emails a week ;_;

PM him, JJS, or Lutecia. They're around at #nanoha at irc.rizon.net.

Only 10 a week? pfffft

My @damagedgoodz.net email gets 10 a day and my regular gmail gets about 50 a day. Thankfully gmail does a fantastic job of filtering them all into the spam bin.

>>42
I can be reached either on IRC like starlightSkyS pointed out or via email at jjs@damagedgoodz.net if you have any specific questions or concerns. Oh, translators get free candy!

>JJS I don't think you're encouraging potential translators by posting pedovans and pedobear.

Currently DGz-Nanoha has 8 episodes.
Yesy has about 15 episodes, and there's the UHQ softsubs going around, too.
Simply said: no moar Nanoha translations within our pantsu???

Yesy suck!...... Looks like I won't be watching StrikerS ;(

53 Name: Katzbalger : 2007-08-16 14:54 ID:v/LNzQn4 [Del]

>>52
You fail more for being too picky. While yesy is... inferior (I use this word VERY loosely) to the product we were pumping out, at least they're actually translating the show, and it's probably the hardest show to translate in this season and last season. Be thankful they actually are translating

54 Name: zzz : 2007-08-16 15:27 ID:t7XJlk3U [Del]

I just hate yesy, can't help it. :/ If they used the "fan" names and stuff I would probably have succumb into watching their release, but I don't think I would be able to handle "rising heart".

I don't care about speed. I would have waited for as much as at had to.

Overall:
You are right, but still I can't force myself. I just don't like them. I will be waiting for some sort of a miricle or in time try to buy the DVD's (witch is not that easy from my country :D)

10x for giving it a shot anyway! :) bb

Oh, my, God, that is some dumb argument you have there. "If they used the "fan" names and stuff I would probably have succumb into watching their release".......that's EPIC FAIL

>>54

Well, you have the raws, you have the translations, just make your own version.

57 Name: Varion : 2007-08-16 22:33 ID:3LPUIypk [Del]

>>54
Huh? Last time I checked JJS was making us use Raising Heart too.

58 Name: マティリャマジカ : 2007-08-17 01:05 ID:+NYOsa9W [Del]

>>55

I don't see what is wrong with that. People can have their own preferences. If he/she doesn't like it, then he/she doesn't have to.

>>53

The only problem I see is the lack of a translator. Quality has never been an issue with DGz, and understandably that the lack of it in other translations would most certainly dissatisfy those who are used to the quality product of DGz.

>>57

I have been meaning to ask you for some time now, Varion. According to JJS, you have roughly 60% of episode 9's translation done, right? Do you still have it?

Hypothetically speaking, would it be fine by you if you were to do, say, the bulk of the translations in future episodes while someone finish the rest for you?

59 Name: zzz : 2007-08-17 12:54 ID:t7XJlk3U [Del]

Lol, I'm not arguing with anybody, It's just that I've watched 2 season that way and now the change really bug me. Like I sad, that's me. :)

10x to the person who defended me! :D And 10x to Fabien, that's not a bad idea. Maybe I'll do it.

@Varion:
I don't know. That's what I heard. I haven't watched any eps yet. was waiting for more to come out.

60 Name: Katzbalger : 2007-08-17 14:33 ID:v/LNzQn4 [Del]

I asked Var for the t/ls he supposedly had so i could edit them and he refused to hand them over. He wants a real t/l to check them first.

61 Name: Varion : 2007-08-20 12:46 ID:KKDHFu7k [Del]

>>60
No I said I didn't have them anymore, and I don't.

Honestly, my translations were never brilliant (I've only been studying for a year, after all, and even then it's been focused on regular Japanese not anime or casual Japanese), I only did them as Kie found it easier to fill in the blanks and edit mistakes rather than do it all from scratch himself.
