Today marks the end of Nanoha StikerS. Okay, A lot of people complained about how crappy this was compared to A's and yeah, they were right, it was. However, I'd be lying if I said it wasn't all that bad. Some of the episodes in the series were quite good and up to par, like episodes 5, 8, 9, 11, 12, 16, 17, 23, 24, 25 and 26. I'm looking forward to the DVD releases when they come out.

Well, after A's, I guess people expected too much out of StrikerS, but you have to admit, the animation and production staff had a lot to live up to that standard even under the best of circumstances.

Oh, sure they added like 15+ new characters and animation was sketchy at times, but nonetheless the series gave what it promised - Fate in Sonic Drive + Starlight Breaker - *Ahem and that was an epilogue of A's.

The end of StrikerS, well it was incredibly anti-climatic. Since all the bad guys by then had either been captured, killed or in a coma there really wasn't anything else left to fight except for the unmanned cradle. Either way, like the other seasons, they have an epilogue with the full ending song.

So in the end, even though StrikerS wasn't as great as A's, it still had its moments. Was it worth it? Yeah it definitely was. People needed to stop making that comparison and just watch it. They'd enjoy it a lot better.

Remember not long after "A's", there were rumours flying around of a third series, especially after THIS pic appeared, of an older Nanoha & a reference to a 'Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha S'? I suspect this was started by Seven Arcs, to gauge public opinion, and possibly whip up enthusiasm for a potential new series. And of course it worked; the reaction when it was confirmed that StrikerS was to come out was HUGE. The fan reaction has been massive (Geneon licenced the first two series as a result, natch!), so you KNOW there'll be a fourth series! Heh, it wouldn't surprise me if SA are working on it right now. Which brings me to...

SPECULATION TIME

So, when (& if) said 4th series comes out, what will it entail, plot-wise? Seeing as we've had a home-grown threat in the shape of Dr. Scaglietti & Bitch Queen Quattro, I wonder if the next enemy will be of an extra-dimensional nature, a la the Shadows in "Babylon 5", or not unlike the Borg or even Species 8472 in "Star Trek"? Time (& dimensions) will tell...

As the torrent i found for the 26 raw went plop, i've not seen it yet, but unless things change during the episode i honestly feel that we should seen a bit of nanoha's earthside family.

I've been following fanfics for ages, mostly ranma based but for the first time in a long time i'm inspired to write, after i see 26 i'll start on this fic idea, a bit of what inspired me.

Of course StrikerS was awaited -- because the first two seasons were great.
Now, StrikerS wasn't great. Some people think it's pretty good, some think it's lame, but all in all, it just can't compare to the first two seasons.
So, if they announced a fourth season, I don't think there'd be lots of enthusiasm from the fans, like there was before StrikerS started.

Honestly i don't think it was that bad, just not what everyone expected............ (good God not this argument again, this is why i don't visit SW boards any more)

Honestly, if the 4th season comes out, it really wouldn't be much of Mahou Shoujo Ririkaru Nanoha anymore... It'd be more of the other characters since Fate and Nanoha has Vivio as their daughter...

I'll wait until the DVDs come out to watch the episodes since the raws failed me bad.

i haven watch the last 3 episodes... personally,i think StrikerS is quite nice... if u were to compare StrikerS with A's,A's is better... but since StrikerS is 26 episodes in total,it have more time develope the storyline n overall the the story is not bad... i looking forward for any upcoming season if there were any of them n the DVD release...

This season was hard to judge. On the one hand i was dissapointed in the battles that were nowhere near A's awesomeness but on the other hand i really enjoyed the story, humor and total OMG! Scenes like eps 17 and 24/25 had. I'll hold out on final judgement until i can watch everything with subs. It's a lot more fun to watch if you can understand what they're saying XD

Yep, that's my point: it was completely different from what fans expected; so there's a good chance they'll lose interest and don't care much about a fourth season.
Anyway, I suppose the DVD selling results will tell us more about that.

I'd like to see a 4th season shift back to earth, i'm working on a fanfic that will deal with such a premise.

I think a 4th season will depend on the sales of the StrikerS dvds in japan and maybe even how well the R1 dvds do stateside, i hope StrikerS gets picked up. I remember how R1 fans helped drive the creation of Big O 2 and R.O.D. TV.

If there IS a 4th series, it'll probably be set 10-15 years later. In which case Nanoha, Fate & Hayate will almost certainly be married (the former two to each other, natch!), thus cementing their MILF status.

Mechanical Girl Cybornetic Subaru A'ss

I think Nanoha StrikerS was the best of the three so far! I really really loved it, and it has inspired me to try harder and do better in RL... this series shows me that hard work and training pays off! it's not full of ridiculous "By My Will" nonsense school of fighting, it shows what is truely necessary to be the best, to be good enough to beat the bad guys when it comes time for the throw-down...

Or what'd make an excellent 4th series - one that was mainly space-based, a la "Babylon 5", where Hayate, Nanoha & Fate (as well as the Wolkenritter, Stars & Lightning teams) travelled in the Asura to combat threats to the space-dimensional continuum, returning periodically to their base in dimensional space (that which resembles a Starbase & Babylon 5, but MANY times bigger). And mayhaps battles in which Nanoha & Fate pilot fighters that initially are generic, but when they board such & slot in Raging Heart & Bardiche they transform into something much more advanced & exotic? (the equivalent of turning a WWI Sopwith Camel into Project Aurora?!)

This would advance the concept of what I call Shoujo Sci-Fi which was realised in Nanoha StrikerS.

Nah, Nanoha isn't the kind of girl who whines, even at a young age. That's why she's the main character.

Nanoha had different circumstances than Vivio. Nanoha was left alone at a very young age and she had to learn to fend for herself. So of course she doesn't whine when she wants something/something doesn't go her way, because she didn't have anyone to respond to those whines.

Vivio on the other hand has a mother, a god mother, a care taker, a wolf, etc that care for her. So if she whines she knows some one is there to do something about it.

Too late, she was the main character in season 3.

In fact, I'd say the term "main character" is too imprecise for MGLN. There's the narrator (Nanoha-chan in the three seasons), and the subject the show talks about (Fate, Hayate and Subaru in seasons 1, 2 and 3 respectively).

Vivio isn't exactly a normal girl. She a clone of the most powerful mage of ancient Belka. You keep forgetting that Vivio is young. If she was going to be made a main character, she'd be conciderably older so she'll have developed traits that make her a worthy main character. Or we'd see her grow up and how she developes those characteristics.

Besides, most magic girl animes (Nanoha included) start off with "normal girl is bestowed with/finds out she has amazing powers."

There is no way Nanoha is just an observer. She is the main character through and through (the TITLE character for that matter). The others are just sub-heroines. They get their fair share of development, but in the end this is still Nanoha's show.

Nope. The term "narrator" means that the viewer basically sees the same thing as her. We see the events, and discover Fate/Hayate/Subaru, through her eyes -- which doesn't mean Nanoha doesn't act.

In a murder story with a recurring detective (Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot, etc.), the subject and point of attention is the murder or the murderer, while the hero is the detective.
In MGLN, the story is about Fate/Hayate/Subaru, but the heroine is Nanoha.

Not really. It's be rather easy actually. You can even see it at the end of StrikerS. After the Blaster 3 Starlight Breaker, you see Vivio telling Nanoha to stay back and let her get to her feet herself. Whereas earlier she just cried until some one helped her up. This shows that she's going away from the 'whining girl' and is becoming more independant.
