I don't want to keep starting new threads, so I will be using this one thread for all my updates from now on.
With that boring intro out of the way...
EPISODE 6DVD is now available for download.
EPISODE 1DVD V2 (and/or .ASS files) is now available for download.
Last but not least, with Geneon sitting in limbo right now, I have put the first two seasons back up on the site for now.
Would it be possible to get just the first two seasons' .ass files, too?
I can do that.
Question: do you want them to look like my new StrikerS format or just leave them in their original format?
Also, do you want a clean and a full version or just one of them?
Feel free to email me.
are u going to finish the dvds? or will be "dead" halfway?,
when are going to sub the 7-8-9 dvds? cuz erm i dled them from other fansub and they look like crap not saying name of said fansub "taedium" ...lol
also if i write like an asshole is because my native language is not english, sorry for that lol
For a new site, it's looking very nice so far - especially for the archive of the first two series & the eps of StrikerS you've put up to date.
I'd like to suggest that you expand it into an archive of MGLN-related images, sound files & MP3s - and even a forum? You could turn it into THE place for Nanoha fans. How's that idea sound?
Probably a better idea to keep at those DVD eps - #nanoha/DGz aren't done subbing it yet (and using yesy is not an option...) so for now, just focus on the episodes.
IMO, unstyled and uncoloured subs look better, but I can fix that on my own...
Since you have romaji, how about kanji? Usually, I would include one or the other, but usually kanji (romaji = use your ears) - see pic.
Choice is always good, so including both OPED-subbed and OPED-less would be better. It doesn't take too much effort, anyways.
Just keep working at a steady pace, and don't be bothered by all the "when is ep# out?". Good work so far!
Episode 7 DVD is up with .ass scripts (clean and full) if you want them.
Thanks for the feedback, all.
>>5
As long as DVD raws are available, I will continue to work this project until the end. (So long as I don't get sued and my site shut down, too :P )
>>6
I might put some of the music up, and some of the better MAD/AMV I have found. As for pics, moe.imouto and orly.yesly (by DGZ) have way more pics than I can ever hope to put up on my site. As for a forum, I work fulltime, being an adult and all, so I don't really have the time to administer a forum right now. But I will think about it.
ive got an question about season 1&2
how is your subbing style there? colored or not?
since i love colored subs :)
but i dont want to dl the ep unles i know that its woth it...
btw wich scripts do you use or do you self translate?
Season 1 and 2 are the original DGz DVD versions. So no, the subs for those seasons are not colored. However, I do plan on re-doing those subs in the same style as the StrikerS subs for consistency. I will be working on those when I catch up with StrikerS.
The first two seasons are based off subtitles by The Triad fansub group.
The StrikerS subtitles are based off DGz's scripts with a few tweaks in translation and grammar by me. Later, if DGz is still stalled on the StrikerS project, I may need to switch to Yesy's subs, with some changes by me.
Does that help answer your questions?
yap thx
Episode 8 is out -- as well as the ASS files for those who already have the DVD raws.
Enjoy!
Episode 9 and associated subtitle files are out.
It will be about 2 weeks before the next batch of DVD raws finds it way to the net. If, by then, I only have Yesy subs available, I may have to go that way.
Until then, I will be revising the first few releases of StrikerS into the new format.
Coldlight-san, is ur release of season 3 r all DVD version of StrikerS or juz the HQ version?
DVD versions. A lot of the scenes have been re-drawn and fixed.
Yes, they are the DVD versions.
Update: I should have the next release done some time tomorrow.
Enter Vivio!
>.> i need 6 hours to dl the eps.. the dl rate is at 13kb/s =.=''
possible if any1 here can upload the video on www.veoh.com so i can dl from there?
...What's the point of having the DVD versions if you're going to upload it onto Veoh?
>>20
What? DDL? Where did all the bandwidth go?
Well, according to my site stats, the total bandwidth is not even near being used up. I can't be certain, but maybe there are a lot of people using Yahoo (my provider).
Sorry for the problems.
I just tested the download and was averaging 70K. So I am not sure what is going on with your dlls, guys.
Bad news, all. I finished the subs, but the guys at EiEn did something weird with the encode again. Therefore, instead of merely muxing the subs, I have to re-encode Ep10. So you will have to wait until tomorrow (I hope that will be the end of it) for the next episode.
Thank you for your patience.
For those of you would just use the .ASS files in MPC, they are available.
Deleted the previous post.
Episode 10 is available now.
However, just so you are aware, I did have to switch to #Yesy's subtitles for the "clean" portion of the subtitles. The more I listened to the dialog during the timing phase, the more I began to dislike some of the translation. It wasn't wrong per se, but they seemed to take too many liberties with the "localizing" of the dialog. Anyway, I did change quite a few of the lines, and I hope that I got them right despite my rather mediocre skills in Japanese.
Please enjoy and leave feedback.
Just wanted to thank you for the DVD-versions^^. They're pretty clean compared to yesy's...waiting anxiously for the rest..
I didn't notice any problem with the downloading(600K)? Perhaps I just hit a lucky spot, however it was same for ep. 1-9 earlier as well...
Anyway, as a fan of Nanoha I'm really glad I happened to stumble across your site last week, keep up the good work^^.
I didn't notice any problems with your sub edits. I don't know Japanese, but I can recognise when the translation is off. It's quite bothersome really. At any rate, I wasn't bothered at all with your releases. Keep up the good work. The TV version did not do StrikerS justice.
coldlight-san, was wondering, could u include the sub for the devices too?
>>30
In my earlier (something like eps 1-6) subs, you are right, I did not sub the devices.
In my latest ones, I think I did. Correct me if I am wrong.
I am in the process of re-doing the first few eps with a new subtitle style and it will include the subs for devices.
Thanks for the feedback.
There weren't many 'off' lines - there were some lines that I didn't like how they were translated, but that was expected with the switch to Yesy's subs.
While it might be a bit more problematic, I was wondering if you could use the creditless OP and ED that were released with Volumes 2 and 3.
Keep up the good work.
Well, as far as creditless OP and ED, I can give it a shot.
I will let you know how it goes.
Update:
Still trying to get the clean OP and ED to work. If I don't have any luck over the next few days, I will just move on with what I have been doing.
All right. Here is the deal.
As far as I can tell, the encoding method used by EiEn makes it impossible for someone of my limited abilities to edit and re-encode the StrikerS eps with the Clean OP and ED.
HOWEVER,
I have ordered the StrikerS DVD and will now be encoding them myself. I have spent time encoding DVDs recently and am confident that I can get it done right.
SO,
No more cropped vids,
x264 vid encode, OGG audio, probably OGM container,
Clean OP and ED starting all the way from Ep1 (though I will get 11 and 12 done first).
Please bear with me as the subbing project may slow down now that I have to rip and encode the vids myself. I hope you are pleased by the results.
Why would you use OGM? It's been absolete for months.
If that's the case, then I think you should just finish the rest without the clean OP and ED. It's not like it's really that important.
Well, I can put it into a different container. No big deal, I guess.
My other concern about the EiEn encodes is that they have visual artifacts. I don't know about anybody else, but those drive me nuts! I do care about quality, and I will release this with the highest quality that I can achieve.
You will get the releases -- no worries.
I'm good so long as the files are under 300 mb
>>41
Actually, I would suggest 340 MB per episode. That way 13 episodes fit PERFECTLY on one DVD-5, and the series takes up 2 disks.
I agree that'd be nice too, however I have bandwidth limitations I must worry about
Not that I wouldn't say "F that! This is Nanoha we're talking about!" but it's still something I need to be mindful of.
Any possibility that you could put up a list of the CRC-hashes for the episodes somewhere on the site?
With DDL there's a greater risk a file somehow gets 'scrambled up' as opposed to torrents, so it would be nice to be able to check them...
These are CRC-values I derived from the files I downloaded:
file; CRC;
MSLNS1HQv2.mkv F2F0113B
MSLNS2DVD.mkv 4D12714E
MSLNS3DVD.mkv 67201150
MSLNS4DVD.mkv 177F6ED3
MSLNS5DVD.mkv E05C6BAC
MSLNS6HQ.mkv 8997D883
MSLNS7HQ.mkv 44DC636D
MSLNS8HQ.mkv E89CA2E8
MSLNS9HQ.mkv 4D863318
MSLNS10HQ.mkv 9044D885
Should(hopefully) match the CRC from the original files...
Update:
I have the newest release (eps 13-15), but the other discs have yet to arrive -- darn customs!
In the mean time, I am rough timing the eps so that the releasing can go as fast as possible once the other discs arrive.
As for CRC-hashing, I am completely unfamiliar with that. I will trying researching it, but do you have a good site that might explain how to go about utilizing it?
<--- Interesting crossover picture.
Well, I'm not much of an expert either, and I don't know how to check or create CRC-hashes directly either(huh?),...
But I use a program called 'QuickSFV'(to make an .sfv-file(in this case of the files above) and open it with Notepad(any text-editor will do...) it will list the filenames and CRC-hashes(which I just copy/pasted here...).
As for checking(assuming the filename contains the hash...), I just create an .sfv-file(with QuickSFV) and open it(with notepad). If the CRC(s) on the list match the CRC(s) in the filename(s) everything's is 'kay^^...
You can download QuickSFV v2.34(freeware,157.12kb) from here;
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/desktop_software/file_management/quicksfv.cfm
Torrent creators and seeders should remember to change .sfv to read-only attribute as it tries to update itself after each check(I created once a torrent and checked the files afterwards and wondered why it didn't read 100% when I tried to upload the torrent after that...it didn't recognize the .sfv-file..)
Hopefully that helped somewhat^^...
>and I don't know how to check or create CRC-hashes directly
CRC32Finder
http://www.anime-fansubs.de/files/CRC32Finder.exe
Thanks, now I know how to do that too^^.
...And it even automatically checks against the CRC in the filename if there is one^^...
Still, an .sfv-file is the way to go if you want to check a LOT of files with one click(it's essentially a compiled list of all the CRC-hashes of a number of files. That also means it's pretty pointless creating an .sfv for a single file...)
Thanks for the info guys. I'll see what I can do.
UPDATE:
The rest of the discs showed up today. Expect releases in the near future (I hope).
WOW. Crossover with what. And where'd you get that pic!!!
Emo nanoha brings down the world while hayate gets herself killed and Fate gathers every single soul for Instrumentality. Crossover done. ^_^
>>50
With Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Isn't it true that the peeps who invented the .OGM format lost the source code?!
Update:
I have most of the discs ripped to my drive. Then it is a matter of getting the songs spliced in, encoding, and putting the subs in.
Sorry for the slowness. But I am just one guy, after all.
Don't worry, we don't mind waiting^^. For DVD-version it's lot better to have the job well done rather than make compromizes for the sake of speed, especially when the TV-version is already available...
I've watched the episodes so far, and compared to yesy's earlier it's a completely different feeling watching them. Same when I in the past saw Triad's releases of the earlier seasons and discovered Dgz afterwards...
You DO realize that you're now the 'official' releaser of this version as Nanoha-Dgz seems to have stalled it indefinitely(?)...Keep up the good work, I'm rooting for you^^.
same here... don't mind waiting for a good quality release...
I'll wait until you are good and ready. High quality is worth every second. And I would like to take a moment to thank you for your generosity in delivering Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS to us, in DVD quality. You rock, you really do!
I thank everyone for the patience and support. I am now tweaking the encodes to get the highest possible quality. The biggest issue is trying to cut down on the pixelation during hi-contrast (dark) scenes.
But progress is being made, and I think you all will like the results.
>>60
Thank you very much ^_^. Being one of the few people who actually enjoyed strikers as much as previous seasons i am really looking forward to this
Update:
I finally have an encode that I am happy with. I am finishing up timing the subtitles. I hope to have episode 11 out by tomorrow as a nice little present for Christmas.
Please leave feedback on the product. Thanks.
wait......quick question: Are you going to re-release ALL episodes including 11? If so......wow.....just.....wow
Err... no, not all the eps up to 11. That would be wow, but you'll have to settle for just 11. Before I redo the other eps, I would like to get feedback on how I did on 11.
Episode 11 is online! Please let me know what you think about it.
Also, you will find the SFV code in the hypertext for the download, for those that care to use it.
Sorry to bother you again, but I have a question. Will you redo the scripts for episodes 2 - 6? I think you said something about that. I;m just asking beacuse I want to burn them to DVD and want to know if I should wait. Sorry for disturbing
Yes, DmonHiro, I will be redoing the scripts for eps 2-6.
And I will most likely be re-encoding up through 11 so that all the vids look the same. The only differences will be the creditless op and end and lack of a crop.
I'm getting an error at 4.38 that unables playback for several minutes forward from that point..
also, I checked the CRC and it's '97040A21' alas it's different from the CRC in the hyperlink...
I downloaded the file again and it remained '97040A21'...
So unless I somehow managed to duplicate the exact same error twice when downloading, did something happened to the source file?
As for opinion/comparison...
It looks good^^...
There are some differences to [Taedium]'s release...
both use the same video(mpeg4(H264) with mkv as the container.
Yours is a bit darker in tone, especially noticeable when characters are wearing black dresses or in a dark alley, this also means the colors are a bit more vibrant in your release.
I didn't notice any pixelation in either one(not counting the error sequence) nor differences in sharpness in normal vieving.
However in full screen mode(1440x900 screen with normal aspect ratio) [Taedium]'s is slightly sharper/less pixelerrors; in the very beginning there's noticeable pixelation when the characters are talking whereas this is absent in [Taedium]'s, perhaps the best way to compare would be to look at the crystals in the opening sequence.
Both also seem to be using yesy's subs as they are almost identical in that aspect...
You have one sub/sign only and one complete subtrack which both are styled(softsubs)
[Taedium]'s have two complete unstyled ones, where the only difference seems to be font size(Normal 18px and TV 21px)(softsubs).
Both seem to have the same initial resolution though [Taedium]'s is upscaled to 853x480 when vieving.
Framerate for both 23.98fb but audio differs:
C: AAC 24000Hz stereo
T: Vorbis 48000Hz stereo
Not too sure how accurate the info in mpc(media player classic) properties tab is though(for example, it gives the initial resolution 720x480 for [Taedium]'s release and that can't be right..)...
Sincerely, Blanchimont
Sorry, typo, the audio is is the other way round, T->C
Well, I had some issues with the upload, so I am uploading again. Also, I think part of my problem (concerning quality) may be the rip, not the encode necessarily. I will be tweaking both.
Thanks for the feedback.
I have re-uploaded the vid. And behold, when I download it, I get yet another CRC! And, alas, this file won't play at all.
Sorry to all those whose hopes I raised up only to dash with this problem. I am working on it to get you that vid.
All righty!
Episode 11 is up and uncorrupted! I verified this myself by downloading the file and checking the CRC hash.
Also, I agree with you Blanchimont that the quality may need more work. I will be working on it.
In the meantime, episode 11 version 1 is now REALLY available for download.
Sorry for the run-around.
Thank you, it's working now^^
Update;
So here is the thing.
As far as my untrained eye can tell, the Nanoha StrikerS episodes are encoded in a hybrid VFR fashion. I am trying my level best to learn how to make this work, but I am afraid that I have reached my limit in self-training. I could just use the same method that I used for Ep 11, but the quality was just not the same as most other releases.
So unless I have a breakthrough here shortly, I will be going back to using the EiEn video RAWs that I was using before. I really wanted to try my hand at encoding, but I am at my wits' end.
>>75
i checked out a few of your releases. eps 2 and 11. and personally i think you've done a kick ass job. Ill be lookin foward to your future. releases. this weekend ill probably download all of the current releases and watch em.
I may have found a way to get the videos together properly. If so, I will probably get Eps 1-11 re-released. Since they have already been timed, it shouldn't take too long. Then, with everything looking the same, I will move ahead with 12 and onward.
This job WILL get done the right way... Just bear with me.
Okay, check out this re-release of Episode 1 of StrikerS and let me know what you think.
Why 1?
I am happy... very happy... with this one! Please tell me what you think. If it is good, I will be using this encoding method for the rest of StrikerS!
Sorry.... the URL is
http://www.magicalnanoha.com/video/MSLNS1HQ_v3_FAF70100.mkv
I have not linked to it yet. Clicking on the Episode 1 link on the site will not get you it because this is a trial release.
The new one looks better but smaler and kinda squshed. The old one is wider (i like wide screen BTW) but the vid is not as clear as the new one. see image.
The asperct ratio is wrong. The resolution of 720x480 created a display aspect ratio of 1.5 instead of the 1.77 the show was made in.
Oh, with the exception of the aspect ratio, witch I belive can be fixed easly, everything else was very good. File size is OK, audio was vorbis I belive. (I preffer AC3, but it really does not matter if the source is stereo). Video quality was S rank :D Keep up the good work and thanks
>>83
S-ranked indeed. just need to fix that aspect ration :)
hmmz... 720x480 like Taedium version... anyway just set your player in 16:9 "mode" and the video is perfect ;)
PS: sorry for my english... ò_ò
K, gonna get that aspect ratio fixed. Thanks.
Resizing to (896,504) ... which gives the video the same ratio as 16:9... 1.78.
It will probably be up tomorrow morning. Let you guys know.
Also, this new encode WILL look a bit different from the V2 because the EiEn RAW I was using was cropped so the aspect ratio was a bit off from 16:9.
or 768x432, it's 16:9, mod 16, and it's only a bit upsized
>>85 I am using CoreAVC and MPC. CoreAVC only supports beeing proportionally resized while playing, so you can not just go to 16/9 mode while using it.
I am glad to see all my work in vdub has helped.
All righty, check this one out!
http://www.magicalnanoha.com/video/MSLNS1_v3a_2217D577.mkv
Let me know what you think. Thanks ahead of time!
Hell YEAH!!!! Now that's what I'm talking about. My hat is off to you sir, the quality is PERFECT. Also, LOVE the new fond for the spells. Thank you for your hard work.
>>91 Looks great and is no longer squshed, perfect!
Okay then. With a positive response, I will be working on getting caught up with the new encodes!
Thanks for the help and patience, everyone!
Hey Coldlight-san, I have just watched the first episode of your work on the Nanoha StrikerS series. I must say is very well done, especially on the font of the Character's spells/moves :). I'll look forward to the rest of them.
However, in episode 1 I see a little tiny spelling error. On 14:24 , you spelt Tia in Tai when Subaru says "Tai, I'm sorry. I let my guard down". A little mistake there but other than that, is awesome :). Haven't watched StrikerS for a couple of months now, nice to see someone making it in high-quality. Keep up the great work, and oh yes "Happy New Year" :).
AWESOME, JUST AWESOME!!^^
I just had my first peak on the ep. 1v3a, and...
The picture is crystal clear(unless my eyes decieve me,it's noticeably sharper(or at least less blurry) compared to MSLNS1HQv2.mkv when looking at finer details present...),
no pixelation,
the skipping/hacking present in the old version(MSLNS1HQv2.mkv) is gone(a very distinct change if you compare these two side by side, this new one runs absolutely smoothly^^).
Better than [Taedium]'s, thumbs up^^.
(now, if I just get the chance to watch the rest of the episodes in v2/v3...)
As for vfr, it seems you mastered it?^^. An increasing number of anime- and scifi-encodes are shifting to vfr from the traditional cfv. And that's hardly the only thing happening in the arena...
If anyone's noticed yet, there's a shift in standards going on, some of those changes already being definite;
avi, ogm -> mkv(container, for pc/mac), avi -> mp4(increasingly used in standalone players, and can take advantage of vfr^^ and a lot of other features than the obsolete avi can't), xvid/divx -> x264 (better quality for lesser size though requires more machine power(however that's hardly an issue anymore))
All this means is greater experience for us viewing anime^^, however it will no doubt be cause of additional headache to the encoders, at least till the tools/use/software/guides etc have shaped a bit more...
Again, thank you for your work on this, Coldlight-sama^^,
Sincerely, Blanchimont
Just wondering...is the decision of keeping them DDL only instead releasing the episodes on torrent as well a matter of preference, time constraints, knowledge, keeping control of all the downloads(through the site), or simply principle?
On another note, don't know who your provider is, but if I ever DO want to create a site with downloads, where do I sign up? Each time I download it gets over 600kb/s...
Thank you so much, all of you! It is good to hear that I have released a product that pleases you guys.
Sorry for the annoying spelling error. I will try to be more careful.
And yes, Blanchimont, it will probably get easier to encode these kinds of shows when the software catches up. Most encoding programs (I believe) presume a CFR. I happened to stumble across a few websites, programs, and scripts that made my job much easier. I have learned more about NTSC, FILM, and telecide than I wanted to know. I was nearly at my wits' end. An Avisynth script that interfaces with a few other programs saved my mind!
Just FYI,
Episode 2 version 2 should be out within 48 hrs.
>>97
I tried the whole torrent thing, but had no success. Mostly because my ISP service sucks for uploading/seeding. I would be more than happy to see anyone redistribute them through other channels provided the distribution stops for legal local release. An IRC bot or even fserver would be great!
As for the site service provider, it is Yahoo. Those guys have been great!
I see you made a torrent. I shall help seed it. Everyone...help seed it.
It even made it to animesuki^^;
http://www.animesuki.com/
It's already been snatched 221 times and now listed there that number will go even further up...
I just hope Coldlight-san isn't too mad at me making a torrent of it...
It is not an issue, guys. Thanks for creating the torrents! I had a ton of hits on the site the other day. lol. I hope the torrents don't backfire and cause my bandwidth to be used up.
Anyway, what you REALLY want to hear! Episode 2 v2 is up for download at the site.
Go get 'er!
I've taken to hardcore uploading when at school i can pull almost a 2mps (yes MEGS) when on their hard lined connection. It's fun to start something and see a 25x upload rate before going home....... Otherwise i'm on a wireless cable connection and cap it at 40k upload.
But i try to help out best i can.
-Gabe
Torrent for ep.2 v2 is up^^;
http://tracker.anirena.com/details.php?id=3807
Sincerely, Blanchimont
Good quality subs, the fonts for the spells are cool and excellent quality. The only minus I can see is slight errors with names like in episode 2 with Moandial, which should be Mondial and Lusie as the last name of Carol....don't really know if it's correct or not coz the official site's one is kinda weird. But it doesn't really matter to me, even official subbing companies often mess up names and they do it way more often than you. Besides that an awesome piece of work!
Keep up the good work! ^_^
Episode 3 version 2 is up!
Enjoy!
Thank you, I'll make a torrent of it once I wake up^^(it's 2.17 at night here...)
Oh well, went and made it anyway(Zzzz...)
Here^^;
http://tracker.anirena.com/download2.php?id=3902
The .torrent-file download links for the first two;
http://tracker.anirena.com/download2.php?id=3788
http://tracker.anirena.com/download2.php?id=3807
Coldlight, you might opt to add those links to your website, so any visitors can grab the .torrent-files directly instead of going a roundabout way to find them...
Sincerely, Blanchimont
Now your episodes are listed on AniDB as well^^...though they're listed under two groups(magicalnanoha an Coldlight, should really be only one), and at least one of the file descriptions was wrong(ep2 v2 source DTV(!))...
Hey word is spreading! Nice.
I am going to try to get 4 out before the weekend, but I worked a double split shift at work (day shift, sleep the afternoon, then go back for graveyard), so I might be out of it for the next few days.
FYI.
Take your time mate, we can wait.
Wow pretty HQ stuff............. I'm goinga try to distro at least 3 copies per file before i move on to other torrents, thanks again.
-Gabe
Coldlight-san: Would you happen to have a list of CRCs for all the episodes you have available (S1+2 - S3 has them in the file names :D)?
Oh and one more question (gah no edit button :P) - What is the official group tag for the various episodes (Coldlight, DGz, etc)?
Thanks!
If you check this entire thread, I made a post with the CRCs of the previous encodes. However if any of my copies was corrupted it might not be accurate...
DGz is(was) a releaser/subber of the DVD/HQ-versions, the tracker link is up this page(see the name of this site, IT'S NAMED "DamagedGoodz Messageboard Experiment"!,), however this site(DGz) is not really related to Coldlight's releases, except that he's very active here and that Coldlight used their subs(ep. 1-10)...And for the fact that he hosts [DGz] Nanoha and Nanoha A's episodes as ddl on his site(for CRCs of those check the [DGz]torrents for Nanoha and Nanoha A's..or AniDB). If there's more to this perhaps Coldlight himself can fill in on the details..
http://www.magicalnanoha.com is the website Coldright runs...however I used "Coldlight" for the group tag for the torrents(perhaps I should have opted for "MagicalNanoha" but it's a bit late to change now...)
However AniDB(or whoever submitted the info) accidentally listed MagicalNanoha and Coldlight as separate groups...
So I guess there might be a fair bit of confusion for any casual visitor...
>>115
Indeed.
DGz is dead. Rather, StrikerS is dead to me for a number of convenient reasons including fansub woes and I just don't like what they did with the show so there won't be any future DGz releases. Anyway, as stated, this imageboard has almost nothing to do with DGz releases anymore other than the two small Season 1 and A's torrent links up top.
>>113 >>115
I have the CRC hashes for all the eps. However, I was unaware of the whole file corruption thing until very recently; so I never checked the integrity of the first two seasons. I will be working on verifying that those got uploaded correctly and then publishing the CRC hashes within their filenames.
>>115 >>114
As for the official group name, Blanchimont went with "Coldlight" which is fine by me.
My crazy work schedule is done (for now). Let's get #4 done, eh!
Hey, Blanchimont, did you get my email? I got Ep 4 ready; so I just need the torrent up before I post it on my website.

Yosh! Thanks, Blanchimont!
Website is updated with torrent and DDL links.
Enjoy.
just wondering something... since epi 1-4 have v2 with the new style... i would like to know,it is there will b v2 for epi 5-11?
Yes, there will be a v2 for the episodes up to 11. The reason for the version 2 is more due to the change of the encode than for the change in styling (that is why Episode 1 is on v3).
Here are the parody subtitles for episode 5, timed for Coldlight's encode:
http://perso.edulang.com/abmad/StrikerS5.parody.zip
(You might need to rename the file and/or select the right subtitles inside the player to make it work.)
I haven't released V2 of Episode 5 yet. However, the timing difference between my encode and the old EiEn encodes I was using is 0.1 seconds. FYI for those who want to use the parody subs with the V2 encode that, BTW, is coming along and should be out by this weekend.
While it's great you're re-releasing everything (even though I'm not dling any of them, as I don't see anything wrong with your previous releases), I was wondering if you could maybe make the new episodes your priority. This is by no means a demand or anything, but I'm sure everyone here has seen your previous DVD releases and eagerly await the new episodes, so they'd rather get those instead of waiting for you do redo the old episodes.
I don't mind waiting as I'm a patient person, but I'm just saying...
I originally was starting again from 1 because people were discussing a desired size for burning to DVD. So to make burning more efficient I was just going to start from 1. And after episode 6, it should get faster because I won't have to rework the subs (2-5 had the old styled subs).
That being said, I could start plinking along on ep 12 and up. It will take a bit of time due to fact that Yesy used hard subs (and I can't get any of the hard sub rippers to work right).
Thanks for the feedback.
Geez, looks like totally different shows.

HELL YEAH TIA!, Ohh god.... -___-
Those prove the need for a good DVD release!
Now that someone put the screenshots side by side, the one from the TV shows really sucks... bad.
I honestly don't mind waiting for Coldlight-san release, as he brings us Nanoha StrikerS DVD with outstanding quality in a new better encode. Not to mention he works alone. So Thank You Coldlight-san for your efforts in releasing Nanoha StrikerS DVD, keep up the good work!
Yep, they did rush the TV show pretty badly.

Did they really have a problem of timing, or is it a cheap trick to encourage people to buy the DVDs instead of recording from the TV?
meh, could be both. i for one fell for it but it's worth it. i won't believe someone if they tell me that they caught every single one of those awkward drawings in every episode because i didn't see all of them as "weird" during the tv airing. that's why it's nice to get the dvds because you'll know that you get quality. for something like oh say clannad or haruhi, the tv airing was already pretty spot on animation so once the dvds released it's nothing really special to look forward to except for moved objects in the background or whatnot.
I would like a little translation advice.
Around 4:08 (of Yesy's release) of Episode 12, Rein is casting a binding spell on Lu and Agito. When the Belkan fighters use spells, they activate them in German. Other than maybe one word, all I hear is Japanese. So is does she actually call out the spell in German, or is she merely using an incantation in Japanese?
If anyone knows, that would be great. If not, I will just use the Yesy version of the scene.
Follow-up idea...
Is she saying something to the effect of...
Grab them in a frozen hold, {spell} Einfrieren {german for freezing}, desu...
What is really throwing me is that last word. With all the yelling , it changes the sound of her speech.
It's German.....but it's NOT "Chains, freeze". Lemme get home and slow it down, maybe I can pick it put. The second word sounds like "fessen" witch meand "to bind", but I can't get the first word
Oh wait.......I just got it. Spell name is "Einfrieren Fesseln". It means "Freezing Bind"
BTW......someone should tell the staff that "fesseln" is mostly used to reffer to "bondage" in Germnay......yeah....THAT kind of bondage
LOL.
That's what you get when you use a Japanese to German dictionary to write your dialog.
Thanks for the help, DmonHiro.
they probably used that word knowing the usage on purpose, heheh.
So, do you need any help ripping the subtitles from the rest of yesy's episodes?(I sent an email about it earlier but haven't had your reply yet...)
Blanchimont, if you have SRTs for eps 13 and up, that would be an awesome help! Just for your information, if you do time using the Yesy release, because Yesy included the "sponsor" bit at the beginning of the show, anything after that part needs to be timed to appear about 11 seconds earlier for my encode versus Yesy's release. Feel free to email them when you have them ready. If you want I will put your "name" in the credits too.
For the rest of ya:
I have 5 and 12 both nearly ready for release. I hope to have them out early next week.
Taedium's subs aren't good? They're ripped from Yesy, adapted for DVDs.
Ok, I'll start the work of extracting yesy's subs^^.
And as you suggested, once they match yesy's exactly, I'll add 11 seconds to each timestamp.
..typo, I meant detract 11 seconds of each timestamp...
Did you get the file I sent in email?
Yes, I did. Thanks!
Blanchimont, please check your email.
To the rest, I almost have Ep 12 ready. Once Blanchimont gets the torrent up, enjoy!
Torrent for episode 12 is up^^;
And DDL is up too! Thanks, Blanchimont!
12? what about 5-11?
-G
Episodes 1-11 are re-encodes that will eventually replace the old ones(currently 1-4 are ready and up, 5 should also come soon?..).
From episode 12 the new encodes will continue where the old ones left off(hence no v2 in the filename...)
So be patient, re-encodes for 5-11 will come eventually^^
I was very happy to see that you didn't use "Wide Impulse" like Yesy did. I mean....WTF? WIDE impulse? Did they not even notice that RIDE Impuse would actually MAKE MORE SENSE?
>>156
To answer your question, firemage, (though Blanchimont did a good job already) 5-11 will be coming in short order as I get them re-encoded. In the mean time, I am trying to get a few of the other eps going as well.
>>158
Well, as I listened to the audio, I kept thinking that it didn't even sound like "Wide Impulse." I thought it sounded like "Rider (or Ride) Impulse." A quick trip to Wiki later and a new spelling was inserted. Same thing with "Inherent" instead of "Influent" Skills -- WTH!?
As I work with Yesy's translation, I am becoming increasingly frustrated with it. For the most part it is okay, but I don't like the choice of words that either are non-words (peace-addled?) or just plain wrong (Wide Impulse?). That is why it is taking so long with the new eps, because being very limited in my knowledge of japanese, I can usually only suspect poor translations, but it takes a while to find out if it truly is.
Thanks for the patience, all, as I try to do my best with what I got.
Please feel free to ask if there is something you are not sure about. I may not be a REAL translator, but I may be of some assistance. Thank you for you hard work.
Coldlight-san used "Tiana" And I approve it.
I mean....It's freaking WRITTEN in the intro
With a very few exceptions, I am using the spellings found in the intro. Mach Caliber, though spelled Mach Cariber in the intro, is just an example of Engrish at its best... so I did change that.
You can't blame anyone who spells it "Teana", as that's how you spell the car she's named after.
>>167
Is she a car? No, she's not. She's an anime character who has her name WRITTEN on screen. You can't even play the Engrish card here.
So yeah, you CAN blame anyone who calls her "Teana"
It's not nessesarily an engrish problem. The Japanese, naturally, aren't very good with english. It's very possible that they just spelled it the way it sounds so it may not nessesarily be right. If you told them to write "their" in english, they'd probably write it "thair". The point is, you can never fully trust the Japanese when it comes to english. Te[i]ana, like most of the Nanoha cast, has her name taken from something car related, in her case being the Nissan Teana. Since the car is spelled with an E instead of an I, it's natural people would use that spelling. The source is far more reliable on that spelling.
Frankly, it doesn't matter how you spell it, everyone will know who you're talking about. Heck, I actually alternate between the two sometimes. It's not that big a deal. You don't need to be a jerk about it.
It is true that there is conflicting information even within the official Nanoha series materials as to how to spell Tiana. So I would just shrug my shoulders to which is the "right" spelling. I am going with the intro spellings because that is what I chose to do.
