This particular board has been running for a year, a month, a week, and 3 days now and overall I'm pleased with the level of participation. There are something like 200 threads with a combined total of about 1000 posts with what I think is a good mix of tripfags, namefags, and anonymous posts. So at least it doesn't look like the same person is talking to themselves or the same couple people running all the discussions. Obviously, I still would like to encourage people to POST MOAR and keep up the discussions.
Traffic to the site has been pretty reasonable as well. Obviously there were substantially more visits during months we were releasing things but even lately the visitor count hasn't suffered much. The main reason for this post is I'm looking for answers and suggestions to the following question:
What would you, the poster/lurker/leecher, like to see from this site?
As you can see from the attached graph, the last year's worth of visitors have consumed roughly 115GB of transfer. Unfortunately this isn't even half of what I'm allotted each month. There's no concern about the site going away or turning into some ad/donation supported retardedness but I would like to make better use of it. Feel free to post your suggestions in this thread, find me on IRC, or email me. I'm purposefully being vague here because it is difficult to just start something and get random people interested in it. I do need to maintain a worksafe environment, though, simply because while I don't mind dropping a couple bucks a year for the site, I'd rather not support the fapping habits of thousands. There's plenty of other imageboards for porn.
On a related topic, I should point out that StrikerS is all but dropped at this point. We've been through two translators already and apparently the Nanoha fanbase is a bit too small for more to come crawling out of the woodwork. I don't like leaving things unfinished but it's pretty much out of my hands now. I know I've said this before but this time I think it might really be the end :)

First of all rhis board needs a bit (only a bit) more of lolcats.
Now, seriously, This board comes pretty well when searching things but I feel it needs a bit more organization. Maybe having some Individual threads about [x character] Images and discussion and [X couple].
It has got Way too many threads like "look this one figurine" and way too few "Post all figugines here" so sometimes Exploring it gets a bit dull. Last time, a friend of mine and I were exploring the site for about 30 minutes looking the Nanoha-fate megapack torrent that was somewhere by the board and finally got bored and Searched it at a trrent site (that took about 15 secs).

I'd suggest allowing duplicate images. Since threads here are never deleted, once a picture is posted, that means it can never be posted again. I think that's rather silly.

On the other hand, I agree that there is a bit of duplicated discussion here. Unfortunately the board software doesn't support any kind of thread management other than deleting posts/files so merging existing posts isn't going to happen. Instead of forcing all discussion into a couple really generic threads, I'll propose a sort of compromise. Since the header of the board has been due for a rewrite/cleanup for a long time, I'll create an "Interesting Threads" list up there somewhere which will contain a list of the 5 - 10 most discussed topics. Hopefully that will nudge visitors in the right direction and reduce duplicated discussions. A search engine for the site would be handy but since the board is based on flat files (no database) the only way to search is to open every thread and scan the file for the search text (which would probably get me suspended again).
Allowing duplicate images is a tricky subject. On the one hand, eventually it'll be impossible to post anything because every common bit of fanart is used up. On the other hand, I can see a few images being reposted like mad because they make excellent witty retorts. It will involve a change to the board code so it may not happen immediately, but I'll give it a shot.
Aside from the imageboard itself, we do also have a danbooru (or rather, a Shimmie which is just like a danbooru but doesn't require a masters in CS to install) that gets a tiny bit of traffic. It mostly contains worksafe anime and/or macro images I've collected in my daily travels across the armpit of the internet (lots of MGLN too). Things like this are kind of what I'm looking to add to the site. Something that people would want to look at in addition to the main imageboard.

Oh if that caught anyone's attention it's titled Saga of Saga.(LOL title's cheesy as hell, but a good read)
Back on topic, all I've to say is thanks for the first 100 or so nanos being posted here, without them I wouldn't have my archive(the image thread overpowers me, too).

Duplicate image checking has been completely disabled for now. I'll work on re-enabling it for same-thread later. If the number of reposts gets too high we'll be back to no dupes so try not to abuse it (especially on the image threads).
