There are a lot of entries that clearly do not belong in a contest like this, especially in Group G; Rika, Potemayo AND Konata? Signum, Fate and/or Vita could have replaced any of them. Hell, even Elio would have been a better choice.

No, they're not. /m/ is pretty much boycotting SaiGAR this year.

For the record though, Master Asia actually DESERVED an upper slot. A poorly drawn extra with a made up name that only appeared for a few seconds doesn't even deserve to be nominated in the first place.

Facepalm You guys seem to have forgotten that Gar is a term used to describe characters who are manly and badass. I agree Subaru is awesome and I love her to death, but she is certainly -not- Gar.

I agree that women can be badass too, but the term GAR itself was adopted as a description of males. You can't be gay for a woman (unless you're a woman, in which case you'd be a lesbian, but as we all know, there are no girls on the internet).

Luckily the origin of GAR is recent enough that an actual factual account of how it came to be is known.

After ep 14 of Fate/Stay Night, where Archer died after an epic battle scene, an anonymous on 4chan was so moved by this that his feelings of admiration crossed into the boundry of love regardless of gender. He wanted to proudly proclaim that he was "Gay for Archer" but for whatever reason he said he was "Gar for Archer." This typo caught on and thus GAR was born.

So GAR is to be defined as a strong feeling of admiration (bordering on homosexual urges) for great men who do great things.

Doesn't change the fact that its etemology comes from the word 'gay'. Anyways, the point is that gar is meant to be used for males only and thus no women should be in SaiGAR. But, naturally, people are stupid and nomiate cabbages and stuff.
